Forestry Commission re-issues guidance on brash removal

The Forestry Commission's Forest Research agency has re-issued its guidance on brash removal from harvesting sites.

"Guidance on site selection for brash removal" was originally published in August 2007, but has had some minor amendments to bring it into line with the recently published "Stump Harvesting: Interim Guidance on site selection and good practice". The main changes affect the classification of typical ironpan soils in terms of the risk of ground damage, and the inclusion of new soil phases for all risk factors.

It has also been produced in a PDF format that matches the style of the stump harvesting document.

The revised guidance document can be downloaded from www.forestresearch.gov.uk/brashremoval, and the stump harvesting document is at www.forestresearch.gov.uk/stumpharvesting.
