WOODLAND GRANTS HELP AT TURRIFF SHOW
Help for land managers, businesses and communities who wish to access woodland grants will be available at the Turriff Show this weekend (Sunday 3 and Monday 4 August).
Forestry Commission Scotland staff will be on hand to explain to visitors how they can access Challenge Funds and the forestry options under Rural Development Contracts that are available through the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP).
Visitors can also be guided through a mock up of the SRDP website and shown how the application process works.
Dan Cadle, Forestry Commission Scotland, said:
"The grants available cover the same range of work as before - woodland expansion, woodland management, Forestry for People and Woods In and Around Town - but SRDP is a whole new mechanism for making sure that the right support gets to the right people for the right projects.
"We'll be there to show people how to make an application for grant support for forestry projects, while colleagues from RPID and Aberdeenshire's LEADER local action group will join us to explain the wider scope of SRDP."
The event is also a great opportunity to find out more about what forestry has to offer businesses and communities and there will be a special focus on how forestry is helping to tackle climate change and what people can do to help make a difference.
There will be plenty of fun games – and a puppet show – to keep younger members of the family occupied.
