4 star wildlife experience grading plaque as awarded by VisitScotland

The centre is now closed for the season.  We reopen in Spring 2010.

Opening hours

We are open 7 days a week from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. The top hide closes at 5pm.

What's here?

New for this season: Extended hide and a new path.

Webcams

Our webcam shows still images of the peregrines' "scrape" (nest), updated every two minutes.

The centre

At the centre itself, you can find out more about peregrines raising chicks in their natural habitat.  Experts are on hand to give advice on the birds and other local wildlife, as well as how to protect them.

Facilities

On-site there's an interpretative cabin, with three monitors offering live pictures and sound from the quarry where the birds nest.

Alternatively, you can view the birds at first hand from our quarry hide.  Follow the short trail to the hide and use the telescope or binoculars provided.  Those less able can take a car up to the hide (only two cars allowed due to the steep incline to the quarry).

Barn Owl in flightAlso on site:

  • small bird feeding station with camera links
  • pond with picnic area
  • car park (including disabled parking/ bus parking)
  • toilets (including disabled toilet)
  • wildlife:  wildcat, barn owl, kestrel, lizards, voles, woodland birds, jays, great spotted woodpeckers, common crossbills, newts, frogs, toads, butterflies and dragonflies/damselflies, roe deer and orchids have all been seen here
  • stunning scenery of Deveron valley and surrounding hills.

Can I bring my dog?

The nature of the wildwatch site is such that, unfortunately, we can't allow any dogs other than guide dogs beyond the car park. If you have to leave your dog in the car, we will keep an eye on it for you while you visit, however, we cannot take responsibility for the welfare of your animal.  Water and bowls provided.
