What's here?

We have CCTV cameras showing the birds' activity in the quarry, and a dedicated red squirrel camera.

  • The Huntly Peregrines blog is the place to keep up to date with the breeding season. We post regular updates and you can add any comments or questions.
  • Keep an eye on the peregrines with our webcam.
  • Check out our picture of the month as drawn by visitors to the centre!

The centre

At the centre itself, you can find out more about peregrines raising chicks in their natural habitat.  Experts are on hand to give advice on the birds and other local wildlife, as well as how to protect them.

Facilities

On-site there's an interpretative cabin, with monitors offering live pictures and sound from the quarry where the birds nest.

Alternatively, you can view the birds at first hand from our quarry hide.  Follow the short trail to the hide and use the telescope or binoculars provided.  Those less able can take a car up to the hide (only two cars allowed due to the steep incline to the quarry).

  • small bird feeding station with camera links
  • pond with picnic area
  • car park (including disabled parking/ bus parking)
  • toilets (including disabled toilet)
  • wildlife:  wildcat, barn owl, kestrel, lizards, voles, woodland birds, jays, great spotted woodpeckers, common crossbills, newts, frogs, toads, butterflies and dragonflies/damselflies, roe deer and orchids have all been seen here
  • stunning scenery of Deveron valley and surrounding hills.

Can I bring my dog?

The nature of the wildwatch site is such that, unfortunately, we can't allow any dogs other than assistance dogs beyond the car park.
