3rd European Congress of Conservation Biology 2012 (ECCB2012)

Congress that explored the conservation of terrestrial, marine and coastal habitats in Europe.

28 August to 1 September 2012

What was the event?

The theme of the congress was "Conservation on the Edge" and attracted participants from the conservation policy, practice and education arenas as well as academics and researchers.

For ECCB2012 we moved to the "edge" of Europe and in addition to the terrestrial themes which have been well represented at previous ECCB we developed the participation of those involved in marine and coastal conservation.

Kevin Watts (Forest Research) jointly ran a symposium entitled ‘Landscape Scale Conservation’ with Claire Stevenson (University of Cumbria).

Who was the event suitable for?

Interaction and effective communication between researchers, policy makers, conservation practitioners and resource users is fundamental to the success of conservation endeavours.  We invited all those involved in conservation to participate in the ECCB2012.  We attracted participants from the conservation policy, practice and education arenas as well as academics and researchers. We especially welcomed students and early career researchers.
