Ed joined Forest Research in late 2009, having completed an MSc in Conservation and Forest Protection at Imperial College London. Before that he read Biological Sciences at St John’s College, University of Oxford. 

Current role

Research Scientist

  • Running the operation of the Straits carbon flux site
  • Collecting tree cores and analysing tree ring width data for the dendroclimatology aspect of the MultiFor project
  • Assisting with non-CO2 greenhouse gas research at the Straits
  • Assisting with the Environmental Change Network meteorology and forest ground flora surveys
  • Monitoring the International Phenology Garden at Alice Holt
  • Assisting with collections for the Integrated Forest Monitoring programme and management of the associated automated weather stations
  • Technical assistance with data logging, meteorology and environmental metrology to various programmes
