About this research centre

The Centre for Forest Resources and Management researches, develops and provides guidance on methods of quantifying, improving and managing Britain’s forest resource in a cost effective, safe, sustainable and socially beneficial way.

The Centre also investigates mechanised and manual works systems through the Technical Development Group, and provides technical support for field experimentation, monitoring and surveys through the Technical Service Unit (TSU) and Forest Research's field station network.

The Centre comprises a number of programme groups each based around a common research theme or service:
