Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) National Conference 2008
23rd and 24th April 2008
What was the conference?
Climate change is today’s major environmental issue and forestry has a lead to take in adaptation and mitigation, particularly in forest carbon management.
Carbon Lean UK explored new opportunities and challenges, exchanged the latest thinking and gathered information in a series of conference sessions led by experts from the UK and abroad. It looked at three key themes across the two days:
- Energy and carbon accounting
- Carbon trading
- The forestry sector’s contribution to a carbon-lean society.
Speakers covered a range of topics to challenge traditional assumptions and build a better understanding of the renewed importance of our industry. These included Robert Matthews of Forest Research who presented "Forestry and Renewable Energy".
The conference concluded with a delegate-engaging open debate on whether woodlands contribute to a carbon lean society.
Who was the conference suitable for?
Forestry and arboriculture industry professionals and students.
Where did the conference take place?
University of Edinburgh
