Dr. Sirwan Yamulki joined the Forest Research in October 2006.

He studied for his BSc degree in Agricultural “Soil Science” and MSc degree in Soil Science (thesis entitled Studies on Ion Exchange in Clay Minerals) at the University of Cairo, Egypt. He then went on to complete his PhD (1993) in Chemistry "Environmental Science" at the University of Birmingham, UK (thesis entitled Surface/Atmosphere Exchange of Nitrogen Gases above Agricultural Fields). After that he briefly worked as a post doc at the same University working as atmospheric Chemist on “Field and modelling studies of tropospheric photochemistry in coastal and upland regions” within the NERC, TIGER programme.

He joined the “Soil Science Group” (1995) and then the “Manures and Farm Resources Group” (2003) at the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER, North Wyke) as a project leader to several UK and EU funded projects.

Monitoring, quantifying and elucidating the interactions between climate variables and soil parameters on carbon and greenhouse gas (and other pollutant) dynamics of forestry and other land uses. Providing evidence to support the development of policy and guidance.
