roots - software for greening brownfield land

Screenshotroots™ is a software program that applies best practice to the specification, scheme design and tendering processes involved in the creation of attractive, sustainable woodland and open space on restored and brownfield sites.

Features

It interprets key site and soil data to generate a constraints report. This also identifies solutions to problems that the site poses for successful planting.

The data informs powerful ready reckoners, that include:

  • Cost-effective plant protection
  • Correcting a site’s acidity
  • Determination of supplementary nitrogen requirement
  • Determination of organic amendment
  • A soil textural classification calculator
  • A British Standards identifier.

The program contains a range of site design tools. These enable you to compile tree and shrub planting mixes together with grass, wildflower and legume mixes, all in relation to site conditions.

Outputs

At the end of the process, you can construct a bespoke specification. This clearly defines the methods to be employed in restoring the site.  It can then act as guidance for contractors and offer a means of monitoring restoration as it progresses.
