Group of closely related plants but distinct enough not to interbreed. Usually consists of several species. Plural - genera.

Girth tape
A tape used to measure the diameter of a tree. Although it is put round the circumference of the stem, it is calibrated to read the measurement as centimetres diameter.
Term describing waxy film on the surface of a leaf or stem, giving it a bluish appearance and serving to reduce water loss.
Artificial union of aerial parts of one plant with the vigorous rootstock of another.
An old, branched tree often, but not necessarily, surrounded by young vigorous trees. Usually applied to Scots pine or European larch.
Green tonne
Weight measurement of timber fresh felled before any natural or artificial drying has occurred.
