Sarah worked for Forestry Commission England as HR Business Partner from May 2007 until she joined FR and Central Services as Head of HR in April 2016.  Previous to that Sarah was Head of HR at the South West Regional Development Agency and worked in a freelance capacity as an HR consultant for a number of private and public sector clients. 

Current role

Head of HR – FR & Central Services

The job is part of the Central Services and FR Executive Teams and has a place on both the Central Services Management Board (CSMB) and the Forest Research Executive Board (FREB).  The role is a temporary two-year post which has been established to lead on the changes from a HR perspective in both FR and Central Services.

Sarah operates as the expert lead and is accountable for all HR matters within Central Services and FR, operating as the strategic lead on the FREB.  She also works in collaboration with the Interim HR Director at CSMB level and is a full member of the HR Management Board. 

Sarah is responsible for leading and managing a professional HR Team of seven staff within FR and Central Services.  The role reports into the FR Chief Executive.

Current programmes

  • Decentralisation of Shared Services
  • Works collaboratively with senior HR colleagues in Central Services, FCE and FCS on the shared services decentralisation programme.
  • Provides a strategic and expert lead on the people management aspects of the changes involved.
