Ed joined Forest Research in late 2009, having completed an MSc in Conservation and Forest Protection at Imperial College London. Before that he obtained a BA in Biological Sciences from St John’s College, University of Oxford. 

Current role

Research Assistant, Centre for Forestry and Climate Change

• Running the operation of the Straits carbon flux site
• Collecting tree cores and analysing ring width data for the dendroclimatology aspect of the MultiFor project
• Assisting with non-CO₂ greenhouse gas research at the Straits
• Assisting with the Environmental Change Network meteorology and forest ground flora surveys
• Monitoring the International Phenology Garden at Alice Holt
• Assisting with collections for the Integrated Forest Monitoring programme and management of the associated automated weather stations
• Technical assistance with data logging, meteorology and environmental metrology to various programmes
