Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) National Study Tour 2009

What was the event?

This year’s ICF Study Tour looked at practical adaptation options within a large productive forest and included a visit to Clashindarroch Forest led by Silviculture experts.

Topics explored included:

  • Risks to existing commercial species
  • Species selection for the future
  • Silvicultural adaptation
  • Marketing and processing timber from “future forests”
  • Woodland creation for biodiversity, carbon sequestration and quality hardwoods.

Speakers included Sarah Green (Project Manager, Centre for Forestry and Climate Change) and other experts from Forest Research.
