About our water testing laboratory
Our laboratory offers a high quality water analysis service for the private sector and research organisations. We carry our regular water analysis for research projects and have acquired the latest state of the art dual view spectrophotometer giving extremely low limits of detection suitable to assess drinking water quality for cations contaminants.
The laboratory takes part yearly in two European water Proficiency Schemes and obtained extremely good results proving the quality of our data.
Our Laboratory at Alice Holt Research Station has been analysing water samples for more than 20 years.
Water analysis is required for various interests such as:
Effluents, Surface waters (rivers, streams and lakes), Potable waters (tap waters, wells and springs)
Water quality is important for drinking water as well as for aquatic life.
Forest health monitoring
An intensive long term monitoring programme of forest ecosystems was initiated in 1994 under European legislation after concerns of widespread decline of forests across Europe. Rainfall, throughfall (water through forest canopy) and soil solution samples from different monitoring plots are analysed.
Environmental monitoring
The Environmental Change Network (ECN) is an integrated monitoring programme, which provides a network of sites in the UK where comparable environmental measurements are made in order to detect environmental change and its effects across the UK. Rainfall and soil solution samples are analysed.
Forest hydrology
Forest Hydrology studies the effects of forests and forestry management practices on the freshwater environment (e.g. increased turbidity and siltation; impact of aerial fertiliser applications; enhanced capture of acid deposition by forest canopies leading to further surface water acidification, nitrate concentrations within ground waters).

Analyses are performed on a regular basis. Response time is variable depending on work load.
If your required analysis is not listed below, please contact us as we have not listed all the tests available. We can also offer a discount depending on the number of samples sent for analysis.
