Cell wall macromolecules and reaction wood (CEMARE) workshop
26th to 28th September 2007
What was the event?
This workshop dealt with recent developments and advances on experimental and theoretical aspects of cell wall biosynthesis, structural organisation of cell wall biomacromolecules, cell wall modification, mechanical properties of tissues and individual cells (fibres), stress generation, formation and induction of reaction wood.
The sessions included keynote lectures, contributed papers, and posters with short oral presentations.

The CEMARE project working groups (WG) comprise:
- WG1: Biosynthesis and structure of cellulose and polysaccharides
- WG2: Biosynthesis and modification of lignin
- WG3: Formation and induction of reaction wood
- WG4: Relating wood and fibre properties to structure and formation.
Who was the event suitable for?
This workshop was a forum for scientists working in the field of primary and secondary cell walls with a strong interest in understanding their general design principles and micromechanical properties.
