From tree to fuel: woodfuel supply chain infrastructure
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Global Watch Mission Seminar 19th May 2005 What was the event? In January 2005 a DTI Global Watch Mission co-ordinated by Advantage West Midlands, with the support of the other RDAs, visited the US to learn about their woodfuel supply chain. The harvesting, processing, storage and transport of timber for woodfuel were all addressed in terms of practices and technologies. This event reported on the lessons that can be learnt from the US woodfuel supply chain infrastructure. The speaker panel revealed the mission findings including: - Current forestry and timber harvesting practice
- The place of woodfuel in the timber market
- The drivers for woodfuel use, with particular reference to broadleaf species.
By learning from the US experience we can help optimise the entire supply chain to increase profit margins, and make wood fuel production an attractive proposition in the UK. View flyer (PDF-666K)
