Strategic Tree Risk Management: developing defensible systems

 

International Society of Arboriculture - UK & Ireland Chapter Annual Conference

What was the event?

This conference aimed to stimulate active debate amongst speakers, delegates and exhibition manager, and to work towards a practicable, legally acceptable, standardised system for managing potential tree risk. This coincided with the current revision of British Standard 3998: Recommendations for Tree Work.

This two-day event brought together some of this country’s and the USA’s biggest names in the field of hazardous tree recognition, fungal pathology, systems of tree risk management and tree law. Delegates were dedicated arboriculturists from local authorities and the private arena, and they were joined by professionals from related disciplines responsible for arboricultural policy development in the UK and beyond.

This conference was an excellent opportunity for delegates to discuss issues they face in the field, and to buy/order the very latest developments in the industry.

Programme

The first session introduced the concepts of tree hazard in sensitive environments. The second session consisted of a number of practical sessions to allow speakers to demonstrate their risk management systems out in the field.
