Chief Executive

Dr James Pendlebury
Has overall responsibility for achieving the objectives and targets set for Forest Research.

Departmental Chief Scientist

Prof. Peter Freer-Smith
Has overall responsibility for research within Forest Research.

Head of Operations

Dr Hugh Williams
Leads the design and implementation of processes that support the development of Forest Research in its work as a provider of research and authoratitive advice to the forestry sector.

Research Centres

Our Scientific staff are organised into three centres.

These centres provide a focus and context for our research programmes and a point of contact and extension service for our partners and customers.

Corporate functions are provided by staff in four groups which report to the Head of Operations.
