The threat to forests from invasive pests and diseases is increasing at an alarming rate. In the project FOREMOD, we have been developing a series of bioeconomic models, combining the ecological, epidemiological and economic drivers of forest diseases, to study the ways in which different management options can reduce risks and expected damages. The conference aims to:

  1. Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and results from researchers working on inter-disciplinary modelling of the impacts of and management responses to invasive pests and diseases;
  2. Provide an update on the FOREMOD project findings and outcomes;
  3. Facilitate knowledge sharing on new policy approaches to deal with rising global risks from plant pests and diseases.
