Ruff guide to Fineshade Woods
(Average user rating: 3 unrated 3/5)

Find out about me, my owner and my favourite place for a walk in Fineshade Woods, as well as great dog friendly places to eat and sleep near by.

Meet Willow the dog from Fineshade Woods

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. My owner and me

I’ve got a very distinctive white tip on the end of my tail, which looks great, and my owner Sarah, a forest centre manager, loves to show me off. As I am a Border Collie, the fact that I am eight years old doesn’t slow me down at all – I’m still just as lively!

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Favourite treat

Jumbone Bites. Ohhww, they are so good. I could eat the whole box (but I’m never allowed).

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Best trick

I will shake both paws on request. Treats guaranteed with that one!

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Arch rival

TV commercials – and I have a feeling I’m not the only one! They’re so bad, they just make me want to howl.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Favourite places for a walk

The longer the better, really. I’m usually taken down the Smelters Walk. We don’t always have a lot of time, but I really like the ditches and the hidden pond on this route. They are great!

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Water stops

There are water dishes around the picnic benches and a tap in the courtyard to top them up. All the picnic benches have clasps to attach leads to.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Other useful information

There are no dog bins on site so my owner says that if I need to go near the visitor centre we have to bag it up and take it home. Or if we are in the wider forest we can use a stick to flick it into the undergrowth away from the path. Visit Fineshade Woods for more information about what's available on site.

3 Stars 3 Stars

Some nice forest walking on a two mile route and good accessible paths. Popular with cyclists but dog walkers walkers and cyclists all share well.
