Forestry and Woodlands Advisory Committee

North West and West Midlands

The Forestry and Woodlands Advisory Committees advise the Forestry Commission on its work in the North West and West Midlands and comprise two committees:

North West

This committee covers the North West (Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Manchester and Merseyside) and is chaired by Iain Taylor, Partnerships Director for Peel Holdings Ltd.

Iain is partnerships director with the Peel Group, delivering a diverse range of development projects and community regeneration schemes.  Iain joined the Peel Group in 2007 from a career in the third sector focused on environmental regeneration and advocacy.  He has a range of interests, including Chair of the North West Forestry Framework and is a trustee of Community Forest Trust.  Iain is married with two children and loves exploring the country on his Ducati.

West Midlands

This committee covers the West Midlands (Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands conurbation) and is chaired by Professor John Moverley OBE.

Professor Moverley has had a long career centred on land based industries and over a 17 year period was the Principal and Chief Executive of the Lincolnshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture and also Myerscough College.  He has had a range of business interests alongside the education and training roles and has served on many public bodies including the Board of the North-West Regional Development Agency and chairing its Rural Advisory Group.
