A limited number of cycle events are held in the Forest each year, most of which are based at Cannop Cycle Centre.
The events are organised by a number of different external parties, in conjunction with the Forestry Commission.
On event days parking may become limited on site for non-competitors. Alternative parking for visitors with their own bikes can be found at Beechenhurst Lodge, from where the cycle centre is just a short ride away.
There has recently been some discussions on social media regarding the events at the Cycle Centre. The following statement is the Forestry Commissions official response:
The Forestry Commission agreed with the Dean Trail Volunteers a number of years ago that bike events held in Sallowvallets should be limited to 10 per year. This is due to the extra demand on the trails from events which seriously erodes them.
The Forestry Commission fully supports the bike events at the Cycle Centre and wish them to continue but need to take into account the general users of the site and the capacity of the car park and facilities in general.
