Wood carving

This year, we've commissioned one artist, Patrick Brown, to create a sculpture using the trunk of a magnificent and historic giant redwood.

Sadly a high degree of internal decay meant that we had to fell this enormous specimen, which was planted in the 1850s.

In the run up to the event, our sculptor will be working in situ on Main Drive in the Old Arboretum, before the sculpture is moved to a prime spot on the festival site.

Patrick will be creating a sculpture called 'Redwood Unzipped'. Once complete, the sculpture will find a home near to the new Wolfson Tree Management Centre, where it will celebrate and tell the story of this special tree.
