My name’s Vince Lennox and I’m a Ranger with the Forestry Commission and we are at Pleasley Park in Derbyshire.
We have a bush craft event coming up where we’re actually going to sleep out overnight in the forest.
Normally we do day courses but this is the first time we’re going to stay out overnight.
We’re going to be learning how to make shelters, make fire using different methods, using friction fire lighting and the sun if it’s a sunny day.
We’ll be learning how to catch water and purify it and touch a little bit on wild food camping.
The growth in bush craft is down to celebrities like Bear Grylls and Ray Mears on TV, with more and more people wanting to try it.
You don’t have to travel hundreds of miles like those guys do to get your bush craft kicks. If you’d like to take part in our bush craft event it’s on the 13th & 14th August, overnight.
If you’re interested call the Forestry Commission on 01623 822 447.
