This page gives you information on trail closures and diversions, changes to scheduled events, and forest operations in our forests in NE Scotland. The information is updated monthly.
Trail closures / diversions
Balloch, near Keith - sections of Balloch will be closed for tree felling work from Monday 23rd January till end March. Maps on site will tell you what is affected at any one time.
Culbin, near Forres - some tree felling work at Wellhill/Buckie Loch/Findhorn Bay areas of the forest until March. Some diversions will be in place. Please obey all signage.
Kirkhill, near Aberdeen - yellow route closed until spring. Also part of the red trail is closed to horses for the foreseeable future, till remedial path work is carried out. To avoid the small section that is affected, continue on the forest road and rejoin the route after 800m.
Ordiequish Moray Monster Trails, near Fochabers - Gulley Monster/Soup Dragon/Dragons Tail. Tree felling work will result in weekday closures of the trails from now till mid February. They will reopen at weekends. Please obey all signage.
Pitfichie, near Monymusk - there will be timber lorries on the white trail on the forest road at the north end of the forest till end April. Please move aside if you see them.
Advance warning:
Part of Countesswells (Kingshill section only), near Aberdeen – some thinning work will be carried out, probably in the new year. This will affect some of the trails in this section of the forest.
Scolty, near Banchory – tree felling work will affect part of the red trail and diversions will be required. Work is due to start in the new year but we will give you more details when we have them.
