Aims and Objectives

Sherwood Pines Forest Park strives to be a centre of excellence by managing the landscape, visitor facilities and timber-producing woodland in a co-ordinated and sustainable way for the benefit of wildlife, visitors, local business and staff.

Forest Plans

They aim to fulfil a number of objectives:

  • Provide descriptions of the woods as they are now
  • Show the process the Forestry Commission goes through when deciding what is best for the woods in the long term
  • Show how the woods should develop over the next 50 years
  • Specifically show tree felling and re-establishment in more detail for the first 10 years and in outline for the succeeding 40 years.
