Selected micro-data from the Forestry Commission's National Statistics surveys and data enquiries of forest industries have been provided to Forestry Commission contractors for statistical purposes and are subject to limitations under confidentiality declarations.
Micro-data from on-site visitor surveys are, on occasion, made available to academic researchers for use in modelling visitor numbers and non-market values. These data do not include personal identifiers, but contain sufficient locational information to enable travel cost modelling. However these data are considered to be outside the scope of official statistics, because they are for specific sites, not national in scope.
Micro-data from National Forest Inventory, and the preceding National Inventory of Woodland and Trees, can potentially be accessed under these arrangements. Any such access must respect the confidentiality of sample locations.
