The aim of this booklet is to help Forestry Commission staff recognise areas in our working lives where we have either a direct impact (E.g. using energy, producing waste, travel, managing buildings and construction projects), or an indirect impact, (E.g. our influence on contractors, recreation and forest education), on the environment. The booklet also introduces Forestry Commission staff to the tools that have been put in place to improve, monitor and manage the Forestry Commission’s environmental performance, and to promote sustainable development, including:
- the sustainability programme;
- the Environmental Management System and environmental improvement aims and objectives;
- the targets set by Government and those set by the Forestry Commission.
