3500BC  First settlement of the Brecklands. History of High Lodge
1440s  Noted existence of Warren lodge (built very close to Oak Lodge site) - a defensive building to protect the rabbits, that were farmed locally, from poachers. History of High Lodge
1778  Land bought by Charles Sloane, Earl of Cadogan and most probably used as an area for  game shooting. History of High Lodge
1803  Area around High Lodge mined for flint for use in the Napoleonic war History of High Lodge
1914-1918  Local timber used for trench building in France for World War 1 History of High Lodge 
1923  High Lodge bought by Forestry Commission after being left derelict, after the World War 1 period  History of High Lodge 
1930's  Labour camp established at High Lodge, with men working on road building and planting History of High Lodge
1939- 1945  Labour camp then used to house Polish people who had escaped Nazi occupation in World War 2. In dry summers, the foundations of these buuildings can still be seen on the High Lodge field. History of High Lodge
