Development

We recognise that if the Forestry Commission is to make a positive impact on society, our people all need to have the right skills for today and tomorrow, and be confident in their ability to use them.

We want to people to be able to do their job to the best of their ability and equip them for a future career with us. As an organisation we are committed to supporting the professional and personal development of all our staff - take a look at our People Strategy  to find out more (3mb pdf file).

If you're starting out in your career, we offer Student Sandwich Placements, dedicated Apprenticeship schemes, and a Graduate Development Programme to help us develop our leaders for the future.

Our Management Development programme is designed to provide our managers with the skills and support they need to demonstrate excellence in the management and leadership of people.

Our Learning and Development team run and organise a wide range of technical and professional training courses, so there's bound to be a course that's right for you. We can also support you to study for a further qualification, assisting with funding and time off, where the qualification will benefit both the needs of our business and your personal development needs.

So whatever stage you're at in your career, we have development opportunities to suit your needs.

If you're interested in studying a forestry-related subject, you should contact the Colleges and Universities directly.
