Consultations

BME community engagementAbout Consultation

Involving the people of GB in the Forestry Commissions work is an essential part of our policy making process.  Consultations are formal exercises carried out to seek people's and organisations' views on things that the Forestry Commission is proposing to do.

Why Consult?

We consult so that people can have a say in decisions that affect them, and so our policies will be more informed and effective.

The Process of How We Consult:

  • Either through public meetings, written papers, questionnaires and targeted focus groups.  Responses can be through these means or through telephone or e-mail.
  • We try to use the methods that are best for reaching the people or organisations whose views we seek.
  • We try to allow at least 12 weeks for all public consultations.
  • We will publish a summary of the responses we receive, or the responses themselves.  If you want your comments to be anonymous, you will need to tell us.
