An EqA is a systematic way of assessing and monitoring whether existing or proposed policies, functions or services are likely to disadvantage individuals or groups of people who have already been identified as being at a disadvantage due to their age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion and belief and, or, sexual orientation.
EqAs are required by law for gender, disability and race as determined by equalities legislation, however we have committed to producing EqAs which cover all of the protected characteristics.
How will EqAs help the Forestry Commission (FC)?
Public bodies can not know how their policies, functions and services affect different groups unless we assess, consult and monitor. EqAs will allow us to ensure that:
- we are able to deliver a high quality service that meets the needs of our customers;
- our policies are properly targeted and reflect our customer's needs;
- our workforce is representative of the customer base we serve;
- we are aware of and understand the communities we serve;
- our internal policies which affect employees are fair, transparent and provide equality of opportunity;
- the FC is recognised for both it’s commitment to, and success in, promoting equality and diversity; and
- good practice is developed and used to meet the needs of our customers and employees.
Guidance on completing EqAs is available in Forestry Commission Operational Guidance Booklet 44 - Equality and Diversity (Impact assessment).
Current Equality Analysis
We have categorised our Equality Analysis by business headings and by country, GB, and Forest Research to assist your search. These pages carry only Summaries of our current EqAs, if you require the full version, or can not locate an Equality Analysis, please contact the Diversity Team at diversity@forestry.gsi.gov.uk, giving the full title or details of the assessment you require. View Current Equality Impact Assessments.
By using the Search in the left menu, you can restrict your search to Equality Analysis. The Print facility, also in the left menu, will let you print any section of the assessments in one go rather than page by page.
