Goshawk parent feeding its chicks.

Goscam

Over the spring we have been lucky enough, with the permission of Natural England, to film the rare and protected Goshawk on a nest at Haldon Forest Park. The best bit? Three healthy chicks successfully fledged - a first for the Site of Special Scientific Interest here at Haldon.

View the Goshawk three minute 'highlights' video (WMV | 8.6MB), and watch the chicks develop from tiny bundles of white fluff into fully grown, boisterous adolescents!

We also have more information about the Goscam project and what the footage here shows.

WildlifePearl Borderd Fritillery (Boloria euphrosyne)

Much of Haldon Forest Park is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and butterflies, birds of prey, and nightjars can be found in abundance. Find out more about the wildlife you might be lucky enough to see on a visit to the park, their habitats and what we are doing to protect them.

The Centre for Contemporary Art & The Natural World

CCANW has been based in Haldon Forest Park since April 2006, and is an educational charity. It's aim is to increase our awareness and understanding of the urgent environmental, scientific and social issues involved in our changing relationship to nature through an integrated programme of accessible exhibitions, artist-led projects and educational activities across the art forms. Visit their project space and pick up a programme.

Open Tuesdays-Sundays, 10am-5pm. Closed 22nd-31st December 2008.
