New developments for 2008
Funding from the Herefordshire Rivers Leader+ programme and the Wye Valley AONB, allowed some exciting developments at Biblins: | Woodworking course at Biblins. During 2006 and 2007, Henry Russell of "What The Romans Did For Us" fame ran traditional woodworking courses for students who lived on site for a week. Two new main structures were built, Herf's Barn and The Burrow. They were built mainly from sustainably-grown timber from Wye Valley just above Biblins.
| | New toilet block. Additional funding for the long-awaited toilet block allowed this to be built late in 2007. Campers at the downstream end of the site no longer have a long walk to the toilets! Solar panels on the roof heat the water for showers and there is a completly separate cubicle for public use. As with the original toilet block, access for disabled campers has been planned into the design. | | Interpretation sign outside Herf's Barn. Two new interpretation panels give campers and walkers information about the heritage of the Wye Valley and the use of sustainably-grown timber and traditional building techniques. | | | The Burrow. The Burrow and Herf’s Barn provide additional facilities for groups who might not otherwise have been able to enjoy Biblins fully due to lack of equipment or the need for additional security. More details are given on the relevant pages, together with information on how to book. | |
