Our best cycling experiences in the South West:

Funded by Timberland UK this is the only urban mountain bike trail in the country. Almost 7 miles of tracks, winding through Forestry Commission woodland and the Ashton Court Estate. A shorter 2 mile route can be followed and there are several different circuits and experiences for mountain bikers of different abilities.

Choose from the 11 mile Family Cycle Trail which follows former railway tracks, or if you're an experienced mountain biker head for the challenging FODCA Trail, a single track technical trail designed, built and maintained by the Forest of Dean Cycling Association. With three cycle trails to choose from, including two designed for families and one for experienced technical mountain bikers, plus bike hire from Forest Cycle Hire, why not get on your bike? There are also cycling events, and regular cycle skills training run by Exeter Mountain Bike Club.

For safe off-road cycling follow the seven mile Sika Cycle Trail from Wareham town deep into the forest. Named for the Sika deer that can be found in the area there is a host of other wildlife waiting to be discovered in the forest and on the heath.
