This will provide 10,000 street trees over the next four years in 40 priority areas across London. Resident's groups, community organisations, charities and boroughs can apply for the new grants. To view the maps showing the first 20 areas, and for information on how to apply for a grant relating to this scheme, visit the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme page on the Groundwork London website The grant scheme has a number of potential benefits. It is overseen by a representative body of London organisations and a panel chaired by Trees for Cities identified the first 20 priority areas for the first round, and will choose the final 20 in 2009. The panel uses the Spatial Framework for Trees and Woodlands in London to target the 40 priority areas and the grants can be benchmarked against the agreed standard costs prepared by the Forestry Commission. Standard Costs: Forestry Commission London Region prepared a set of standard costs for the London Region to facilitate distribution of the grant and to allow potential applicants to see what type of operations they may be able to obtain grant aid for and to assist in the preparation of applicant's bids as well as providing a management tool for FC staff and agents to administer the scheme.
