Green Gym

Doncaster Green Gym is an exciting project that enables individuals to become fitter and healthier by taking part in nature conservation activities to improve green spaces in Doncaster. Sessions may include tree or hedge planting, woodland management and many more.
It's fun and it's free!
Sessions last 2-4 hours and are run by a friendly and experienced leader who will provide training in practical skills.
Who can take part? The Green Gym welcomes people aged 16+. Doncaster Green Gym offers you the chance to get out and enjoy the fresh air and be more active.
You don't need to be fit to join the green gym. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace -you can start with more gentle tasks and build up your fitness gradually.
Warm up stretches at the start of sessions prepare the body for work and help to prevent muscle strain and injury.
You don't need any experience to take part just come along and give it a go!
Health benefits Research shows that: Doing an hour of some green gym sessions can burn almost a third more calories than in a step aerobic class. Participants report feeling fitter and having more energy than before they got involved in the Green Gym. Its not only your physical health that can benefit- mental and emotional well-being can also be improved.
Programme Sessions are currently held twice each week. Please contact the Green Gym project officer for a current timetable of events.
Venues Sessions take place on a number of sites across South Yorkshire. Some of the sites we will be working on include:
 *Bentley Community Woodlands
*Brodsworth Community Woodland *Thurnscoe Community Woodland *Buntings Wood, Thorne
