What is the Timber Development Programme?The Timber Development Programme(TDP) is a £1million initiative which aims to deliver 60 tasks between 2008 and 2011 through a series of partnerships between the forestry and research sectors. It was produced following widespread consultation within the forestry industry during 2006.
What is it trying to do?The main aim of the TDP is:
The programme will facilitate innovative research to increase timber use in construction, improve market information to encourage investment and support sustainable management of our forests to grow high quality timber. How is it going to achieve this?An industry-led steering group chaired by John Kissock OBE will bring together expertise and current knowledge of the key issues to assist Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) in prioritising the delivery. Steering group representatives will confer with their peers and stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure that key issues are identified. FCS will fund many of the tasks, and when possible co-sponsor, with other key industry organisations. Who does it involve?Partners are identified in the table of tasks within the TDP.
