Regional Woodland & Forestry Framework
As part of delivering England's Forestry Strategy we have consulted upon and developed a Regional Woodland and Forestry Framework with regional partners to shape our woods and forests for the future. The Framework is helping set priorities and beginning to target public investment in the South West. A number of case studies are being developed, showing examples of the variety of uses local timber has in the region and how woods are being managed for different purposes. Free to use, quality images of woodlands are available on CD to help organisations promotional work. Please contact us if you want a CD. An Implementation Plan has been completed and three groups are being established to drive the plan forward. These are: Custodians: A group comprising key regional agencies at Board and Director level that have a direct interest in the success of the Framework and a direct ability to influence that success, its relevance and integration with other regional policies and strategies. Read a list of Custodians. Delivery Group: A group charged with developing new activities and integrating existing work to deliver key elements of the Framework. This group will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluation and will report to the Custodians. Read a list of the Delivery Group. Forum: The Forum will be an opportunity for local projects and initiatives to link into the Framework, to influence implementation and to work more effectively together. Forum meetings will move around the region to aim to ensure maximum coverage. Details of the Forum will appear here. Secretariat: The Custodians, Delivery Group and Forum will be supported by secretariat work within GOSW and the Forestry Commission with advice from SWRDA.
