Farm Woodland Schemes
 

The Forestry Commission administers three schemes that make annual payments to farmers to compensate for the agricultural income foregone as a result of planting woodlands.


Farm Woodland Scheme (FWS)
This scheme is closed to new applicants. Existing agreements will however, continue until their expiry date.

Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS) - part of WGS mark II & III
Small woodland farm landsacpe.This scheme is closed to new applicants. Existing agreements will however, continue until their expiry date.

Farm Woodland Payments (FWP) is part of Woodland Creation Grant, contained within England Woodland Grant Scheme (EWGS). This replaces the Woodland Grant Scheme - Farm Woodland Premium Scheme and The Farm Woodland Scheme. EWGS combines Woodland Creation Grants and Farm Woodland Payments in a single scheme.

2007 Farm Woodlands Payments
The Forestry Commission received confirmation from the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) that FWP payments could commence from 31st October 2007 under new EU regulations. Details of how payments are being made can be found here.

Customer and Land Registration
From April 2008, applicants for EWGS must be registered on the Customer Register (CR) and the land on the Rural Land Register (RLR).
