Orienteering
Orienteering is a sport in which participants navigate round a course using a specially drawn map to find particular posts or control points, collecting clues as they go. At Sherwood Pines there are three permanent courses that are available to various groups or individuals. Pinewood Puzzle - Designed for young children, although there is no age restriction on those who wish to have a go! It is based around the Visitor Centre area, with letters and pictures as the clues. Schools/Groups course - Available to pre booked schools/groups, this is a basic course on a specially designated site further in the forest. Further information on this site and other orienteering activities are available by contacting the education team at Sherwood Pines. Permanent course - This covers the whole of Sherwood Pines, but has various suggested routes ranging from an easy family route of 2.5km to more challenging courses or even cycle routes. Maps and instructions are available from the Sherwood Pines Cycle shop for a small charge. Back to top
