Felling licences

Sweet chestnut coppice site with cut and stacked polesFelling trees is an important part of the cycle of woodland management. However, to help protect trees and to ensure proper woodland mangement, normally a  felling licence will be required before you can cut down any trees.

It is an offence to fell trees without a licence if an exemption does not apply.  Details of when a felling licence is required and how to obtain one are available in the booklet Tree Felling - Getting Permission (PDF 1748kb).
