Guidance Notes for Children’s Party Organisers
Party organisers* should inform parents of children attending the party that appropriate clothing and footwear for activities in the woods are essential.
We recommend: - sturdy shoes or welly boots
- fairly tough clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty
- a raincoat if rain is at all likely
- warm clothes, a warm coat and a hat if it is cold
- a sun hat and sunscreen in summer months
- Cuts and grazes on exposed skin, especially hands, should be covered before children come to the party.
- Party organisers are responsible for the behaviour of the children at the party.
- One adult needs to be present for every five children. For 25 children (the maximum allowed) there would need to be 5 adults present.
- Party organisers should be aware of any special medical needs of children attending the party and ensure that they (the party organiser) are able to cater adequately for those needs. Forestry Commission staff carry basic first aid kits at all times.
- It is the responsibility of the party organiser and other associated adults to make sure that all children wash their hands thoroughly after the activity and before eating any food.
- The Forestry Commission reserves the right to alter a planned programme or to cancel a party in any unforeseen circumstances such as staff illness or extreme weather conditions.
- Lunchtime parties begin at 11am with the ranger activity.
After school parties begin at 4pm with the café food. The ranger activity lasts for 1 hour. If the cafe are providing your food this will last for 1 hour. - There is a parking charge for all vehicles using the car park, including the party organiser.
- Please contact the Forest Office, 01296 625825, if you have any questions or queries and to confirm availability of party dates.
- Please inform us if you wish to cancel a provisional party booking.
*The Party Organiser is defined as the person who has booked the party and invited the guests i.e. not Forestry Commission staff.
