Volunteering in Thetford Forest

Do you have a few hours to spare helping the environment of your Forest. Whatever your age, ability or fitness level, volunteering is a great way to get involved in your local forest.

The benefits of volunteering include

  • benefit from the fresh forest air
  • feel a sense of belonging and involvment in the forest
  • getting to know your local area better

How to get involved

By joining Friends of Thetford Forest Park you can become involved with

Conservation Volunteers

Meet monthly on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Tasks throughout the forest include trail maintenance, habitat creation and managment, bird box making.

Lynford Arboretum Group

Meet monthly on the 4th Sunday of the month, also some weekday meetings. Tasks include pruning, nettle and bracken bashing, tree planting, general maintenance.

By joining TIMBER you can help improve the mountain bike facilities in Thetford Forest for riders of all levels and abilities. Members build and maintain trails in association with the Forestry Commission.

Join TROG and help improve the mountain Bike facilities in the forests at Rendlesham and Tunstall.

Become involved with  Ampthill Volunteer Rangers. Volunteers assist on a range of practical tasks around the Bedfordshire woodlands between October and March. For more information please contact Community Ranger Cheryl Joyce at cheryl.joyce@forestry.gsi.gov.uk
