Volunteering in Thetford Forest

How to get involved
By becoming a Volunteer Ranger at High Lodge. If you are
- looking for an opportunity to become more involved in your local Forest Centre
- seeking experience to further your career in countryside recreation management
- available for 1 - 4 days a week including some weekends and evenings
- are reasonably fit
you may be interested in our new Volunteer scheme. The role will be flexible to suit individual needs. Successful applicants will be given training and development opportunities by work shadowing current recreation staff. By joining Friends of Thetford Forest you can become involved with
Conservation Volunteers
Meet monthly on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Tasks throughout the forest include trail maintenance, habitat creation and managment, bird box making.
Lynford Arboretum Group
Meet monthly on the 4th Sunday of the month, also some weekday meetings. Tasks include pruning, nettle and bracken bashing, tree planting, general maintenance.
Archaeology Group
This occasional group works on ancient monuments and archaeological sites within the forest.
By joining TIMBER you can help improve the mountain bike facilities in Thetford Forest for riders of all levels and abilities. Members build and maintain trails in association with the Forestry Commission.
Join TROG and help improve the mountain Bike facilities in the forests at Rendlesham and Tunstall.
