Welcome to the most extensive range of outdoor activities in North West England. The Forestry Commission offers a huge range of activities available to suite all levels and desire. From the adrenalin rush riding through the Zander Zone on the North face Trail at Grizedale to zipping along a wire over 1000ft up a mountain at Whinlatter.
Our Forest Parks offer a massive selection of activities and experiences in great locations across the North West of England. Whinlatter Forest Park has Go Ape and later in 2008 the new 19km Altura Mounatin Bike trail will open. See the Ospreys in Summer or go for a walk around quiet Revelin Moss with views of Grisedale Pike. Whinlatter has a forest shop, tearoom and childrens adventure play area. Delamere Forest Park has the largest Go Ape course in England and miles of great cycling and walking routes. In the summer Delamere plays host to Live Music concerts in the outdoors. Delamere has a tearoom, cycle hire and is easily accessable from Delamere Railway Station. Grizedale Forest Park has numerous walking trails including the Riddingwood Trail with sculptures that make music. The most popular Go Ape course in England is at Grizedale along with the 16km long North Face Mountain Bike trail. Grizedale is currently under going significant redevelopment which will see a new shop and tearoom provided.. Families with ChildrenChildren love our special Foxtrot Food Web and Rabbit Run trails at Whinlatter or the adventure play park at Grizedale and soon at Livia. You could play hide and seek in the Japanese Garden at Giggle Alley, play pooh sticks on a walks through Viridor whilst pretending to be like one of the sulptures. Watching OspreysAnnually from April to August Dodd Wood is one of the few places in England where you can see wild Ospreys fishing and flying. Operated as part of the Lake District Osprey Project Dodd Wood is supported by the live nest video at Whinlatter Forest Park . Cycling
Our Forest Parks provide formal routes and cycle hire however if you want to do it yourself why not visit Gisburn near Slaidburn, Livia near Swinton, Bidstone Moss near Birkenhead Quiet walkingIf you want to enjoy a quite walk check out these destinations Highstand near Carlisle offers easy all year round walking under open pines and larches. Ennerdale in West Cumbria offers walks around beautiful Ennerdale Water or up high onto Pillar, Steeple and other favourites of Alfred Wainwright whose favourite mountain Haysatcks is also in Ennerdale. Also in West Cumbria Miterdale provides peacful walking in an often missed valley just south of Wasdale.
Primrose Hill near Chester offers peacfull walks through the Urchins Kitchin , a sandstone gorge. Wheatacre near Warrington is a new Community Woodland where you might spy a Brown hare.
