Local Sites Grant

 Local Wildlife Sites

Local Sites are non-statuary designations but do identify high quality wildlife habitats in a local authority context, including ancient trees and woodlands.

 Objectives

Through this Local Sites grant we are seeking to improve the conditions of woodland Local Sites (must have minimum of 20% tree canopy cover).  The work supported must enhance or improve the woodland aspect of the site.

 Support available

The whole suite of grants under the English Woodland Grant Scheme are available to support work across the region’s woodland Local Sites.  Specifically we can contribute up to 80% of agreed standard costs for those priority woodland sites identified on the Woodland Management Targeting Map.

Applicants should refer to this map to confirm if their wood is a priority wood.  Alternatively you can contact this office with a six-figure grid reference to get confirmation of the wood’s priority status.
