ART IN THE PINEATERY - CAROLE BURYArtwork entitled Journey deep in the trees by Carole Bury.

Enjoy a new collection of ‘Woodland’ Textile Pieces from textile artist, Carole Bury. The strong colours found in the Autumn Trail at the Pinetum are reflected in these tissue paper collages. They are made from single thickness tissue papers that have been painted with oil paints, making them colourful and light fast. An interest in Textiles from North Korea has inspired the layering and piecing techniques, and in a similar method she has used hand and machine stitching that is functional. Not only do the knots and stitches hold the papers together but provide new colours, textures and interest.

Carole lived in Tonbridge for many years before moving to a small village in the Cotswolds, where she works from her studio. The woods around her home are her inspiration, as is the nearby Westonbirt Arboretum. www.forestry.gov.uk/westonbirt

She has a degree in Fine Art Embroidery and can be contacted at www.carolebury.com
