Play Trails

There are masses of opportunities for playing in the woods - trees, logs, small streams, Young girl jumping off a log at a natural play spaces, playgrounds!

Come and use your imagination and initiative to have heaps of fun. 

The Play Wood

Children can enjoy climbing on foresters’ ‘machinery’, the Pirate Ship and many other items. Two new pieces of accessible play equipment, a wheelspin and nest swing, have been installed to enable children with disabilities to enjoy the playground.

3D Maze

Exploring the maze at Alice Holt For even more adventure on a forestry theme visit our 3D maze, based on the old forester’s sawmill.


Its ladders, passages and winding corridors are spread over 4 floors. Views over the forest and a little playhouse greet you at the top.

Habitat Trail

Boy peeping out of owl on Habitat Trail at Alice Holt Journey further into the forest and you will be greeted by an amazing array of forest creatures.
Climb a spiral staircase inside a tree trunk, home of the woodpecker; run up an owl's back and see the forest through his eyes, find a bridge guarded by snakes and climb over a bat and moth.
The final area on the route is now open and the network of tunnels gives you the chance to feel like a rabbit in a warren or a badger in a sett.
