Wilton Park Conference 2006

Forestry: A Sectoral Response to Climate Change

Can we predict the impacts of climate change on boreal, temperate and tropical forest systems? What contribution can carbon sequestration in forests globally make to the mitigation of climate change? Does present forestry policy and practice adequately accommodate the current understanding of climate change?

These were some of the questions asked at the November 2006 conference organised by Forest Research and the Forestry Commission in co-operation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The conference brought together leading experts from 15 countries to consider practical proposals on the way forward.
