Facilities

Parking

There is adequate parking on site for most days of the year. The vehicle access charge includes the parking fee.

Toilets

Toilets are available inside and outside the Forest Centre. Both also have facilities for the disabled.

Refreshments

Café

The Café serves a variety of home produced and locally sourced food. Examples from the menu include Home made soup and a roll £3.50; Pannini with cheese and ham £3.50; Jacket potato £3 with various fillings at £1 each; Filled rolls from £3.50; Drinks - coffee from £1.50, tea £1, various cold drinks.

Food to go - on site picnic food

Ready made sandwiches, snacks and sweets, hot and cold drinks.

Forest Shop

This is the place for information about the forest and what it has to offer. Leaflets and books are available as are gifts and other forest related products.

Adventurous Play Area

The play area is set among the trees with challenges for children of most abilities and ages. Six giant wooden play sculptures are linked by an easy access trail suitable for buggies as well as wheelchairs and easy walking.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome in the forest in certain areas including the area immediately around High lodge we request that dogs are kept on leads. This is for the safety of the other forest users as well as to protect the wildlife. 

Facilities for the less able

High Lodge Forest Centre is fully wheel chair accessible with disabled toilet facilities both in the centre and in the new toilet block. An easy access trail is available from just outside the centre, it passes by the six giant play sculptures and has seats along the way. Most of the walking trails around the Forest Centre are flat but the surfaces may be uneven. 

Barbecue Hire

Barbecues can only be used if hired from High Lodge Forest Centre. They are available in two sizes, which are suitable for family groups and larger parties. We do not supply charcoal.

Portable, disposable and personal BBQs and camping stoves are not allowed on site.

Prices and Session times

Small BBQ £10 (inc VAT)  11:00am - 6:00pm

Large BBQ £18 (inc VAT) 11:00am - 6:00pm

Please note that the gates to High Lodge are locked at 7pm or dusk, whichever is earliest. All visitors must leave before this time. Visitors are asked to vacate BBQs 1 hour before this time to allow for cleaning.

How to book

A booking can be made by telephoning 01842 815434. Payment must be made at time of booking with a credit or debit card. A booking can also be made in person by completing a booking form and making payment.

There are no refunds or cancellations. In extreme weather conditions contact High Lodge before 11am to arrange an alternative date (subject to availability), which is within 6 weeks of the original booking. We regret barbecues will not be available on concert weekends.
